Stop And Shop Birthday Cakes
When you open a newspaper it is normal that you take a dislike for the amount of kicks they receive through the dictionary. But what I've taken this morning to read "El Adelanto" has been a great joy, because in their opinion page appeared an article with the same title as this entry, and the journalist he complained of precisely the same us: the very serious linguistic mistakes committed through the media.
The joy was doubled, as it so happens that this reporter was a friend of mine for many years, and over forty did not know none of it.
In the article in question are three examples of misused words are very common in the other media 'to be wrapped by Fulanito and-so', 'being met' and 'wear funny clothes', not reluctant to imitate me.
The DRAE contains three different meanings of the verb 'clothing'; the first is "to cover with clothing or shelter, and certainly not applicable to the case. Nor is the second ("cover, shelter"), which is almost identical to the previous. Thus, by elimination, the phrase in question must relate to the third meaning. But I doubt that Fulanito and-so two oxen are used as oxen, and further that the person allegedly 'wrapped' is a brave response, because that is precisely the meaning of the third and last meaning, "said the halters: Surround or near the bulls to lead them. "
Much of the time we try to talk on the phone with an "executive" (the proportion of cases in which it occurs increases exponentially the higher office and lower category of occupying it), just get your secretary to tell us "is met." The sixth sense that picks DRAE the verb to be, and I think it is applicable, says he is "being in a particular state, and gives as examples to be sad, rich, dull, convinced, satisfied, because" together "is back together something that was previously separated, which really means" being together "is that the person concerned returns to be together the parts of your body. And do not think this is what the reporter meant to convey.
As the subject of fun clothes, is it really possible that a garment be funny? As in "El Adelanto" they say, clothing is never fun or boring because the fun and boredom are a "consequence of a prolonged action": you can have fun or get bored watching a fashion show, but what amuses you or bored is the parade, not the clothes.
